About the Artist
Full name: Salaudeen Shuaib Artist name: Shuaib Salaudeen
My name is Shuaib Salaudeen, a passionate visual artist who explores the boundless language of colors and textures through the expressive use of the palette knife. I am a proud graduate of Adeyemi Federal University of Education, affiliated with Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), where I nurtured my creative vision and honed my skills in painting.
Born and raised in the vibrant city of Lagos, my roots trace back to Oyo State, a heritage that deeply influences the themes and emotions embedded in my work. I currently reside and practice in Ogun State, where I continue to develop my artistic journey.
Oil color and acrylics serve as my mediums — one rich and slow, the other fluid and immediate, enabling me to explore contrast, depth, and rhythm. Through these materials, I push beyond realism into a realm where feeling takes precedence over form, and surfaces come alive with energy and movement.
Each painting is an exploration of identity, resilience, and the silent narratives that shape our existence. The knife becomes an extension of my hand, capturing fleeting emotions in sharp lines and thick textures, revealing strength, vulnerability, and everything in between.
He has participated in few exhibitions Chonicles, Ondo Art School (2022),Life In my City LIMCAF (2023),Artistry beyond boundries (2024),Life in my city (LIMCAF) 2024, Mind musing (2025)
Artist statement: My work is a dialogue between emotions and textures, a story told through layers of vibrant color and bold form. Using the palette knife as my primary tool and build each piece with deliberate strokes, allowing both chaos and control to coexist on the canvas.
