Idanre Hill, located in Ondo State, Nigeria, is a significant natural monument that has profoundly influenced the lives and identity of its residents. This towering landmark serves as a living archive of memory, culture, and resilience. For centuries, the people of Idanre have established their homes on its slopes, fostering a community intricately linked to its geography. The ancient settlement atop the hill reflects the enduring relationship between the inhabitants and their environment, showcasing a unique blend of history and cultural heritage.
Growing up in Ondo, Nigeria, I was surrounded by numerous stories about this well-known location, which has become a popular attraction for tourists due to its mountain. This rich narrative inspired me to create this painting. Through my work, I aim to capture the essence of the place and its significance to the community, reflecting both its natural beauty and cultural heritage. My intention is to evoke a sense of connection and appreciation for this landmark, inviting viewers to explore the stories embedded within the landscape.
